FMP draft management plan front cover

Publication Date

The Draft Forest Management Plan 2024-2033 was referred to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for a determination on whether the plan required assessment under Part IV of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (EP Act). Copies of the consultation report and proposed changes to the plan resulting from public consultation on the draft plan were provided to the EPA to assist with the determination. The EPA invited public comments through its consultation hub on whether or not it should assess the plan and if so, the level of assessment.

In late May 2023, the EPA determined to assess the Forest Management Plan 2024-2033 at the level of Assessment on Referral Information (with additional information). The EPA also decided to undertake targeted consultation with relevant stakeholders and groups as part of the assessment.

It is anticipated that the EPA process will take several months. Finalisation and release of the Forest Management Plan 2024-2033 will occur after the EPA has concluded its assessment of the plan.
